Description

With the growth of live sports, latency has become an increasingly hot topic in the streaming industry. Now that many broadcasters are getting ready for a full switch from DTT to streaming, they are now expected to provide their viewers with a DTT-equivalent experience. This, unsurprisingly, makes low latency essential for them. One of the IBC 2025 Accelerator projects, Ultra Low Latency at Scale, attempted to address some of the challenges of low latency streaming using the latest developments in standards – the recent low-latency low-delay (L3D) and SGAI features of MPEG DASH and the interoperable telemetry using the new capabilities provided by the CTA CMCDv2 spec. This project is a continuation of the IBC 2024 project where the early version of L3D was first demonstrated, along with a single-gen onsite encoding workflow. In this webinar, project participants will talk about the challenges, their approach, and ultimately the real-world architecture that was tested and displayed at IBC 2025.
